Cecile Serrano, OTR.
Cecile Serrano is a registered occupational therapist (OTR) and a
board certified biofeedback specialist. For 11 years she has been an
OTR (foreign and domestic trained) and has practiced in various
hospitals, clinics, countries and states, giving her a unique
experience and an understanding of cultural differences and
pathologies. She speaks English, Spanish and French fluently and has
an extended knowledge of providing care to a bilingual population.
Seven years ago she started using BFB training combined with
counseling at California Pacific Medical Center in San Francisco and
had as mentors Dr. Tony Hughes and Dr. Eric Peper, biofeedback
researchers and clinicians. She focused on pain and stress management
for children and adults. Five years ago she moved to NYC and specialized
in the treatment of ADD/HD, learning disabilities, particularly with a
bilingual population, while continuing stress and pain management. She
learned from Dr.Vincent Monastra, well known from his clinical work and
research in neurofeedback training with children and adolescents, and
from working with Susan Antelis, a biofeedback specialist with children.
Ms. Antelis is also the president of the Northeastern Regional
Biofeedback Society (NRBS). Mrs. Serrano is a member of the board of
the NRBS.
Mrs. Serrano is a member of the Association of Applied Psychology and
Biofeedback (AAPB) and an active member of the NRBS. She has a master's
degree in occupational therapy and is currently a graduate student in
the long distance clinical psychology program with the French Institute
of Psychology of Paris 8. Her research studies/projects are focused on
communication in health care, especially in palliative care.
